An entry to Simple-ism's minimalism project.
I originally drew this katamari for work. A team wanted to incorporate a katamari in their internal logo, and one of the graphic designers, knowing I liked Katamari (as evidenced by my previous Katamari walls on my work desktop) tapped me to create it for them. Hence the usage of Google primary colors, the blobby highlights and bold outlines. It reminded me of another illustration I did that involved bowling for Lava Lamps. Except that bowling with a katamari would result in some... interesting outcomes. I thought it was an amusing idea so I took the katamari and added some bowling pins to them to create this.
"This is how we bowl" is a phonetic pun on "this is how we roll" -- and this is certainly bowling, Katamari style.
Inspiration for the wallpaper comes from the clean and minimalistic Google style. And all the amazingly awesome Google icons my coworkers create.
