For the first day of summer, a wall to celebrate! And it's not your typical 'girl on a beach' summer wall either. Instead, we have little Yotsuba looking out her porch. I always liked stuff where the characters are seen in a different perspective, and a view from behind works just peachy. The way the [original scan] was made it more about the potential of summer instead of just ZOMG LOTS OF SUN AND HAPPY CLOUDS. Yotsuba represents all of our inner children, just waiting, yearning to go outside and play. I based the room off of [this scan by Amai]. I was going to add more of the items from that scan - things like the half-full ice tea bottle and the fan would have helped the summer theme - but it just made everything way too cluttered. Not that their house ISN'T a giant mess, but it broke the serenity of the image. As for the cats..... uh, I really like cats and the cats from [this scan] were perfect. Cats rock. They're there because they're funny and really cute, and I liked the pose of the sleeping orange cat curled up in the sunlight. I so want to be that cat. I dedicate the cats to Amai, and I even colored the tabby like Maya! :3 A little bit of texture to give it that old paper feeling and to add an air of nostalgia when you remember your ow childhood summers. As for the title, the "dog days" of summer generally refer to lackadasical, hot, humdrum times... which to me sounds rather like heaven for cats.
