Home › About DA!

DA! Desktop Anime, as the name suggests, is a site housing anime and manga-based desktops. These wallpapers were created with Photoshop, Illustrator and Painter to achieve a variety of effects and styles. I like to experiment a lot with design, so you'll see some standard scenic walls mixed in with some rather abstract styles and a variety of minimalistic walls as well. I'm also a big fan of the Art Nouveau and Art Deco movements, and you'll find several wallpapers in these classic art styles.

I created all the wallpapers on this site, and have been since 5/25/2000. DA! has never had any other artists -- mostly because I was too lazy to try recruiting anyone, and because I wanted the site to stand as a portfolio of my works. The site has been updated on a roughly monthly basis since its inception, and currently has over 250 walls. All the wallpapers on this site are at least 1600x1200 with newer walls being available in the widescreen resolution 1920x1200. You may find additional resolutions at my galleries in Minitokyo and AnimePaper, linked from each wallpaper informational page.

You may also be interested in DAA! Desktop Anime Archives which contains my earliest works (2000-2003).

About the layout

You're currently viewing version 10 of DA! Desktop Anime. Some time ago I made it custom to change the layout once a year on DA!'s birthday. Version 10 was designed as a total switch from the previous version, which had classical Chinese designs and was very Zen and ancient. Version 10 then became something very modern so I went deliberately overboard with Web 2.0 designs -- soft gradients, reflections, and lots of line-height. The layout was designed in Photoshop and coded in TextMate.
